Falconry Courses

Our falconry courses cover a wide range of subjects, including: â€‹â€‹

 

- Introduction to different birds of prey species 

- Understanding different species and how to work with them

- Husbandry 

- Equipment

- Housing

- Food and Nutrition

- Basic training 

- Differences between falconry and demo birds 

- The Law

- Field Craft

- Quarry 

- Telemetry / GPS

The aim of the courses are to prepare anyone thinking of acquiring a bird of prey with the basic knowledge of how to care, house and train it safely and competently also hunting and field craft for those wishing to. By the end of the course you will understand the needs of and work involved in owning, flying and caring for a bird of prey you will also have a better understanding as to whether it is for you before purchasing a bird.


The courses are run over a three or four day period normally at weekends and will start around 9.30 till 3.30 depending on weather and time of year. 


Before attending the course you will receive a course layout giving you a blow-by-blow account of what you will be doing each day. As well as giving you further reading and useful contact.
